Reconstruccion 1987-88 RECONSTRUCTION SIGLO XX. Individual exhibit “Homo Habilis” Gallery, Bogota, Colombia. Reconstruccion Siglo XX, (1987), is a monumental outdoor sculptural installation that covers an area of 49 sq. meters and is 1.5 meters high. In its construction 18 tons of clay and three tons of cement were utilized The installation depicts the towering iniquities of a system that utilizes the couple as the center of the family and the family as the nucleus of society. It is composed of several elements. -The main two couples: one on the outside of the gallery and one in the center of the installation,- a group of abstracted figures that are the portraits of the culturally preconceived roles and the institutions that sustain the ideology of the culture here represented, and -a myriad of smaller human figures that act as a reminder of the enormous amounts of peoples that we are. The installation was built between 1983 and 1986 with a group of students and apprentices. Continue to Reconstruccion 1 |
