Artist Statement

The particular perspective that I manifest throughout my work is the result of the cross-fertilization of
several cultures: my having a European father and a Latin-American mother as well as my having been raised
in Colombia and educated in the United States.

Community activism has been a necessary component for the creation of most of my work. Without the participation of apprentices, neighbors, friends, family and fellow artists, these pieces would not have been accomplished.
